A misty mountain view from the Spean Bridge view point,

The Commando Memorial is a Category A listed monument in Lochaber, Scotland, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II. Situated around a mile from Spean Bridge, it overlooks the training areas of the Commando Training Depot established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle. Unveiled in 1952 by the Queen Mother, it is one of Scotland's best-known monuments, both as a war memorial and as a tourist attraction offering views of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mòr.

Ford is a small village at the southern end of Loch Awe in Argyll, Scotland. The village originated as a stopping point on the drove route to Inveraray.

At the very top of the UK mainland and another squall approaches across the loch, the wall has not fared well, time and the the Scottish weather have taken their toll, however the wild flowers will be pleased with a refresher.

This is Ard Neackie which is a small scenic peninsula on the east side of Loch Eriboll joined to the mainland by a narrow isthmus and has an interesting history of lime quarrying (from the outcropping Durness Limestone), From scotland-landscapes.com

Another scene from the North Coast 500 route that runs around the top of Scotland it starts and finishes in Inverness

With the dramatic Island of Arran as a backdrop these lovely ladies were taking a lunch break on the quayside at Carradale, which is the eastern side of the Kintyre peninsula, They spent a while chatting with my wife and were happy for us to take photographs,

This is 16.9 format so a large view would be appreciated. HBM and a nice week ahead!

Bridgwater is a seaport situated on the tidal estuary of the river Parrett, and has been involved in ship building for centuries. Rope making was an important part of shipbuilding and the town had at least 6 rope walks,,,,,,, HBM.

This is the site of the last boatyard in the town and the final launch was in 1907 with the ketch IRENE,

It was one of the many Herring fishing ports in the area but is now a popular tourist village, In addition, television series and scenes from the Wicker man were filmed here

This is It is a short distance north of the tip of the Mull of Kintyre, which faces out towards Northern Ireland and the Atlantic with views of the islands of Gigha, Islay and Jura.

Seals are visible in the pip,

For convenience, I only carry my landscape lens while away from the car which can have drawbacks especially in situations such as this.

The River Ford is in the valley and the higher ground is looking towards Kilmartin Glen.

A short distance up the West Coast from the Mull of Kintyre is this misty view of the Isle Jura famous for its three peaks known as "The Paps of Jura" and for its world renowned Whisky Distillery, in the 2011 census it had a population of just 196 people.
The low island to the right of Jura is Gigha, (in Norse it means God's Island) it had a population of 163 but following a community buy out in 2002 numbers are on the rise.

The water is The North Channel which connects the Irish Sea with the Atlantic Ocean and is part of the marine area officially classified as the "Inner Seas off the West Coast of Scotland"

Light keeper's Cottage and Lighthouse in pip at Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway,
The lighthouse was built in 1774 at the end of a pier which was built on the southern side of the harbour. This served boats crossing to Ireland,

Being the closest harbour to Ireland, the village of Portpatrick developed into a vital mail boat route. For a time, Portpatrick filled a similar role to Gretna Green. Irish couples would escape from Donaghadee to get married in the village. Couples were said to have their ceremony and be back on the boat within an hour! (https://lighthouseaccommodation.co.uk)

The Creagan Inn is a pub on the shores of Loch Creran near the port of Oban, a place we have been lucky enough to visit on many occasions,
The pips are images from the gardens, the left hand pip is looking west along the loch and the right hand pip shows th loch at low tide and a part of the inn in the distance

In Bridgwater the River Parrett has a tidal range from less than 1m to almost 7m, in this image looking from West Quay across to East Quay which also housed dry docks for shipbuilding, both sides of the river used to unload ships from far flung parts of the world some for transhipment into barges for travel to towns up river, Please see PIP (An old postcard taken fron the other side of the bridge)
The river was so busy it is said you could cross the river by walking on the moored ships, silting has however narrowed the river since those days,
