The Classic Air Force, housed in the former Nimrod hangar at Newquay Airport (St Mawgan) preserves and, in some cases, flies numerous aircraft many of which were previously owned by Air Atlantique and displayed at Airbase Coventry.

The very striking black Chipmunk G-APLO is seen in front of Varsity WJ945/G-BEDV.

There is some work to be done on Varsity WJ945/G-BEDV but CAF is the kind of place where it will get the attention it needs. Although I am no longer young, Varsities were already being stored or scrapped when I started seriously visiting airfields.

Varsity WJ945/G-BEDV. This aircraft was built at Hurn and is 60 years old.
