Branch at the end of 2014. Nearly six years later, I was back in the area and set an objective of tracing, if possible, the alignment which carried the erstwhile branch to Brentford Dock itself. The area is now much redeveloped with more work still taking place but I pursued my objective with near-obsessive zeal and some joy. The bridge which now carries Augustus Close over the Grand Union Canal/River Brent might have been replaced but nonetheless shows the alignment adequately.

This view from Augustus Close looks towards Brentford and Southall. Today's road bends sharply north to a junction with the A315. The railway would have gone between the trees on the right and onwards over the viaduct section(s) depicted earlier in this series.

I first discovered the remains of the GWR Brentford Dock Branch at the end of 2014. Nearly six years later, I was back in the area and set an objective of tracing, if possible, the alignment which carried the erstwhile branch to Brentford Dock itself. An in depth search for further remains of the GWR Brentford Dock Branch, took me along The Ham towards this bridge and Brent Way. Now carrying Augustus Close, this once took the railway to the eponymous dock. I rather feel the actual bridge structure is a replacement or substantial refurbishment.

Gate 3 provides access to The Brentford Project construction site while the Thames Path can be followed to the right of the gates.

I first discovered the former GWR Brentford branch in December 2014. It was constructed from Southall towards Brentford Dock (a station not completed) via Brentford Town (later Brentford sharing the name with the Southern Railway station). The site of Brentford station is shown here across the busy A315 London Road where the arches are now occupied by a car workshop.
