➽ Die Katholische Kirche in Griechenland bildet eine relativ kleine Kirche mit teilweise Diaspora-Charakter, welche von der griechisch-orthodoxen Kirche weit überragt wird.
Die Insel Samos gehört zur Kirchenprovinz des Bistums Chios, welche im 14. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde und ihren Sitz in Chiosstadt hat. Zu ihr gehören die ostägäischen Inseln Chios, Mytilini, Samos, Ikaria und die Insel Limnos.
Die jetzt einzige katholische Kirche der Insel Samos an der Hafenpromenade ist der Heiligen Maria geweiht und es werden immer noch Gottesdienste - allerdings nur in der Sommerzeit - hier abgehalten. Die relativ große und von innen auch einstmals sehr schöne Kirche hätte dringend eine Renovierung nötig (PiPs). Der heutige Kirchenraum ist stark verkleinert und ausreichend für die nicht mehr so zahlreichen Besucher. Quelle: www.insel-samos.net

The today only Catholic church on the island of Samos on the harbor promenade is dedicated to St. Mary and services are still held here - but only in the summertime. The relatively large and from the inside once very beautiful church would urgently need a renovation (PiPs).
