Although it is only 679 feet above sea level, we used the The Great Orme Tramway, which is a cable-hauled 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) gauge tramway in Llandudno, running from Victoria Station to just below the summit of the Great Orme headland.
It is Great Britain's only remaining cable-operated street tramway, and one of only a few surviving in the world, and it is owned by Conwy County Borough Council. The line comprises two sections, where each section is an independent funicular and passengers change cars at the Halfway station. Whilst the upper section runs on its own right of way and is similar to many other funicular lines, the lower section is an unusual street-running funicular. The views to Snowdonia are very good from here - on a clear day. It was slightly hazy on that morning.

Some people were arriving up here in skimpy summer dresses, and took the railway down straight away as it was very windy and chilly up here. Luckily we both had fleeces on, but even so the wind chill factor made it feel uncomfortable. The wind prevented the cable cars from operating.

These deck chairs line the esplanade in Aberystwyth and are rather too large to sit in, but there was a man reclining or slumped in one of them, and it's possible to see his legs in the PiP.

Each year Shrewsbury enters the 'Britain in Bloom' competition, and this year was no exception. The hanging baskets weren't installed until early July because of the searing temperatures and drying wind. The town looks very colourful now, and the judging is finished, but the results are unknown as yet. In 2014 the town was the overall winner. I don't think that will happen this year.

Personally I think it all looks a bit brash, but I have to admit that a lot of effort has been put into the competition this year. Also entered is the much smaller border town of Oswestry. Their displays are very colourful too.

The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a water-powered funicular railway joining the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the rugged coast of North Devon in southwest England.

Rhenish Tower in Lynmouth

Built in the early 19th century, the Rhenish Tower was originally designed to pump sea water for private baths, a popular health trend at the time. Its name draws inspiration from the towers along Germany’s River Rhine, although its heart firmly belongs to North Devon.

Beyond its use for sea bathing, the Rhenish Tower served an important role for local mariners. Topped with a tar barrel lit by night, it acted as a guiding light for boats navigating safely into Lynmouth Harbour.
In 1952, Lynmouth faced devastating floods that destroyed much of the village, including the original Rhenish Tower. The disaster reshaped the harbour landscape and left a lasting mark on the community.

Following the flood, the Rhenish Tower was carefully rebuilt. Engineers extended the pier to make it stronger, and the restored tower remains faithful to its historic silhouette.

My apologies regarding mapping. I have no idea now about how to map accurately, and just use the name of the town and let the crude placement give the idea of where we are.
