&lt;br /&gt;
In the Anglo-Saxon period, Dunwich was the capital of the Kingdom of the East Angles and in the 13th century it had 4000 inhabitants with an international port similar in size to 14th century London! It's difficult to believe that when today's village has only 183 people. Coastal erosion has destroyed over half the area of the old city which once extended 2km further out to sea.&lt;br /&gt;

In recent years it has been completely rebuilt &amp; is now operated by FGV as a modern train-tramway&lt;br /&gt;

This is Benissa the first station east of Calpe and a Stadler bi-modal diesel &amp; electric (pantograph down) unit is seen departing for Calpe &amp; Benidorm.&lt;br /&gt;

The fence wouldn't keep them in or passers-by out.&lt;br /&gt;

As a child I was always told to keep well away from swans. They could break your arm with their wings my mother said &amp; were especially dangerous when they were protecting their young. These beauties were almost in touching distance from the path and didn't even blink as people passed by!&lt;br /&gt;

It is one of only two wrought iron railway viaducts remaining in the UK.&lt;br /&gt;

Passenger services were withdrawn in 1964 and Bennerley Viaduct closed altogether, along with the rest of the line, in 1968 as a result of the Beeching cuts. A contractor was appointed to demolish the viaduct but wrought iron cannot be cut up using conventional metal-cutting equipment and it would therefore have to be dismantled piece by piece. The cost was deemed prohibitive and the viaduct remained in situ.&lt;br /&gt;
