Place to await the next tram back down to Llandudno.

The fences in the background confine a cattle grid, probably intended to keep the sheep / goats on the upper & lower areas separated. The fence behind the bench is meant to keep the sheep out of Halfway Station, and the tourists in !

Bought and planted out a few plants into the "pretties pots" - I suppose you could say "Spring Bedding"

I could add a few more flowering plants later in the month, technically we *could* still get a late frost ...
I will, probably, add a row of smaller pots at the front. I might re-arrange the pots again, depending on how the existing contents grow. The fence at the back makes a good windbreak.
The brick edging is because as the soil is very soft, the lawn tends to break away - and it allows me to build up the soil in flower beds.

The circular pond, presumably drained for the winter - with quite a lot of windfall apples to clear up.

According to the guide book, this is a "dipping pond" - filled by water drained off the glass house roof and the shape / dark lining helps to slightly warm the water, which is then "dipped" out by watering cans so the gardeners can supply the kitchen garden & more exotic plants with not-cold water.

Looking south across what was the riverside bay platforms, you can still see the large slabs that made up the edge, the infill looks somewhat red in this image. The station roof [canopies] covers all but the actual running lines and were substantially restored in 2012.
The Station buildings, footbridge & canopies are all Grade II listed, as an example of Victorian Railway Engineering from 1978.

At the weekend, this area would be filled by flea market stalls - often, over 200 of them ... fenced off for safety [& revenue protection] from the operational area.

The other one of these three Yellow and Black vessels is moored across the river. It's in the background of the Shannon image.

They are "Offshore Supply Vessels" - I think they answer to Njord Viking, Loke Viking and over at the other bank is what I think is Balder Viking.

The fence / crash barrier protects those parking at night from a long drop into the river. I'm standing on the quay just outside the lifeboat station ...

The train has been here a couple of minutes, and the tail lamp is about to change ends ...

There is a 10 minute allowance for the engine to "run around" on the loop, quite long enough to get some good pictures and to stretch legs on the platform.
I think a couple of intrepid people raced up onto Edenhill Bridge for their pictures.

The Midland / LMS style sloped fence at the back of the platform is protecting passengers from quite a drop down into trees, as the land dips here.

Built in 1948 by the Hunslet Engine Co Ltd of Leeds, No 60 was delivered new to the National Coal Board and put to work on the Lambton Railway, Co Durham. This 0-6-0ST locomotive design became known as the Austerity and was built in significant numbers during and after the Second World War. It was reliable, powerful and cheap to both build as well as maintain. This engine's cab was modified to allow the locomotive to work through narrow tunnels leading to the staithes at Sunderland. "60" may be the only modified engine that survives.

Beakhead is where the bowsprit "lands"
The cutwater is the leading edge of the ship's hull
On the original this would have been the "heads" ie toilets for the ordinary crew members.

In later ship designs, the beakhead would be smaller in proportion, and was where the figurehead would be mounted.

Just outside the converted buildings in the stable yard [NT shop*, cafe, toilet facilities] is this roped off picnic area, with more seating and tables beyond the fence. Behind me is a van selling ice-creams etc.
{*Some extra fundraising is achieved with a second-hand bookshop and plant sales}.

Actually, bees and butterflies ...
Tucked between two buildings, a small bee & butterfly friendly garden has been created and is also a suntrap and quiet spot for a rest.
{part of environmental-friendly measures - there's a woodland walk, as well}
The sign is in French - note that during WW2 there were Free French squadrons based here.

In late May 2025, I spent some time on buying and then planting up a selection of "pretties" in a range of containers, intending to brighten up this corner of the front garden. This was the initial result, and needs a little more work to achieve the 3D affect I want.
The tree is actually an ancient elder bush ... and, yes, the grass is very parched.

The colour of water in Queen's Dock is bright orange from the suspended ferric oxide coming in via Corkickle Tunnel and Bransty Beck.
The rust [ferric oxide] is now staining the walls and hulls in this dock.
No wonder that there are many empty berths here.
Truly "OrangeHaven" ...
Potentially, work to relay the track & replace the ballast in Corkickle Tunnel should alleviate the incoming "iron ochre" - this is due to happen in August / September 2025.
