Iona Island, a nature preserve that is part of Bear Mountain State Park. It's just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge, and that is the Hudson in the foreground.

The Rip Van Winkle bridge across the Hudson, from Catskill, NY. Though barely visible, there is a long barge/tugboat combination in the river above the bridge.

I'd never seen a bridge so covered while being worked on. Driving through this tunnel was rather frightening.

When I lived in the Northeast, I made many trips between Binghamton and New York City, Boston, or Provincetown. The Catskills, Berkshires, and Hudson River Valley are physically gorgeous and the older towns were fascinating. In this set are pictures of only a few of the sites along the way.
