Introduced in 2005 [in development 2001-4] Served in Afghanistan from 2006, with armour upgrades. [Superseded by the Warthog / Bronco in "combat" ] &lt;br /&gt;
Further variants to be used for UAV support and other roles after upgrades by 2016.&lt;br /&gt;
XC65AA is painted in sand for desert warfare ...&lt;br /&gt;

I recall these in the bright yellow / high visibility livery worn in for their RAF Air-Sea Rescue role - often co-operating with the RNLI, HM Coastguard and also volunteer Mountain Rescue teams.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Their career with UK forces [RAF &amp; RN] spanned 1969 to 2018.&lt;br /&gt;

I recall these in the bright yellow / high visibility livery worn in for their RAF Air-Sea Rescue role - often co-operating with the RNLI, HM Coastguard and also volunteer Mountain Rescue teams.&lt;br /&gt;

Their career with UK forces [RAF &amp; RN] spanned 1969 to 2018.&lt;br /&gt;

Design based on the Lancaster heavy bomber. Originally operated by the Royal Air Force from 1946, it was used on the Berlin Airlift. Sold to Dan-Air in 1954 which flew it until 1964. After retirement it was on display at Lasham Airfield until it was transferred to the Duxford Aviation Society, dismantled before it came to Duxford in 1986 for a 20-year restoration programme, currently in Dan-Air livery.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
