According to verbal accounts and newspaper reports, this is where family pug Pixie was thrown into the Tay by a person who had abducted her from her home.

This bench is on a small piece of land in Redlynch at the confluence of Bowers Hill and Kiln Lane at the junction of the former with the B3080. The land also has a war memorial. The plaque on the bench reads "This Bench is dedicated to the Memory to those Men of this Community who gave their lives In the Great War 1914-18

11 November 2018"

A number of such memorials appeared around Britain in the centenary year of the ending of World War One.

2016 sees the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. The poor souls commemorated here, on a wall in Slip Lane, Alkham, were early victims of the First World War and did not survive to see one of its worst battles.
