Diese makellose Lotusblüte fand ich im Botanischen Garten auf der Isola Madre, einer Insel im Lago Maggiore. Dieser Garten gehört zu den ältesten Botanischen Gärten Italiens und verfügt über ein günstiges Mikroklima für das Wachstum von Glyzinien, seltenen subtropischen Pflanzen, exotischen Blumen und buntschillernden Vögeln;nicht selten befindet man sich inmitten bunter Papageien, chinesischer Fasanen oder eleganter Pfauen mit hellen Federn. Durch alle diese Dinge und die Sorgfalt, mit der dieses Ambiente bewahrt wird, hat man den Eindruck, sich in einem tropischen Gebiet zu befinden. Sehr empfehlenswert! Das PiP zeigt vergrößert das Zentrum der Blüte.

I found this perfect lotus blossom in the Botanical Garden on Isola Madre, an island in Lake Maggiore. This garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Italy and has a favourable microclimate for the growth of wisterias, rare subtropical plants, exotic flowers and colourful birds; it is not unusual to find yourself among colourful parrots, Chinese pheasants or elegant peacocks with light-coloured feathers. Through all these things and the care with which this ambience is preserved, one has the impression of being in a tropical area. Highly recommended! The inset shows the flower center enlarged

Diese interessante Fahrrad-Installation fand ich bei einem nächtlichen Streifzug durch Venedig. Sie stellt wohl eine Hommage an das Radfahren dar, denn Italien gilt ja als das Land der Rad-Rennfahrer. Egal, wo man unterwegs ist, in ebenem Gelände und hoch in den Bergen: Überall wird man Rennfahrern und Rennfahrerinnen begegnen. Die Aufnahme entstand auf einer Radreise von Bozen nach Venedig.

I found this interesting bicycle installation during a nocturnal stroll in Venice. It is probably a tribute to cycling, because Italy is considered the country of the cyclists. No matter where you are, on flat terrain and high in the mountains: everywhere you go you will meet racing cyclists. The picture was taken during a bicycle tour from Bolzano to Venice.

In der Hochsaison wird Venedig geradezu überschwemmt von einem enormen Touristenstrom, der sich vom Bahnhof bis zum Markusplatz zieht. Abseits des üblichen Touristenwegs findet man aber auch noch das originale Venedig mit seinen Weinschänken, kleinen Trattorien und Geschäften. Es scheint, als ob hier die Zeit stehen geblieben wäre. Also erst einmal die Hauptattraktionen im Zentrum ansehen und dann in die Seitenstraßen eintauchen! Die Aufnahme entstand auf einer Radtour von Bozen nach Venedig.

In the high season, Venice is nearly flooded by an enormous stream of tourists that starts from the railway station up to the Piazza San Marco. But apart from the usual tourist route, one also finds the original Venice with its wine taverns, small trattorias and shops. It seems as if the time has stopped here. Die Kirche Sant’ Anastasia in Verona ist ein wunderschönes Beispiel der italienischen Gotik. Mit dem Bau dieser Kirche wurde 1290 nach dem Entwurf der Architekten und Dominikanermönche Fra Benvenuto da Bologna und Fra Nicolò d’Imola begonnen. In römischer Zeit endete hier die Via Postumia, der ostgotische König Theoderich errichtete zwei kleine Kirchen, die eine wurde der hl. Anastasia, die andere dem hl. Remigio geweiht. Shakespeare siedelte seine Tragödie „Romeo und Julia“ hier in Verona an und beschrieb Häuser und Plätze, die man auch heute noch leicht wiedererkennen kann. In diesem Gemisch aus Fiktion und Realität war das Haus der Heldin in Verona klar zuzuordnen und wurde schnell zu einem romantischen Wallfahrtsort. Und hier konzentrieren sich die Touristen, und hier kann man direkt an spezielle Wände des Hofes schreiben oder auf kleine Zettel in die Mauern stecken. Der ganze Hof ist so voller Liebesbotschaften. Es gibt auch einen offiziellen „Club Julia“, der in ihrem Namen diese Briefe beantwortet. Die wahre Geschichte dieser Touristen-Attraktion erzählt der Stern-Internetartikel! Die gewaltige Basilika San Zeno Maggiore ist die schönste Kirche in Verona und eine der ältesten und wichtigsten in Norditalien. Die erste Kirche wurde hier im vierten Jahrhundert errichtet, um die Gebeine von San Zeno zu beherbergen. Das heutige Gebäude stammt größtenteils aus dem zwölften Jahrhundert (Romanik), die Apsis und das Dach aus dem späten vierzehnten Jahrhundert. Der separate Glockenturm (s. PiP) wurde 1178 fertiggestellt, während der Kreuzgang (s. PiP) aus den Jahren 1123 bis 1313 stammt. San Zeno war einer der Lieblingsorte deutscher Könige auf ihrem Weg zur Kaiserkrönung in Rom.
Eine Besichtigung ist auch deswegen sehr empfehlenswert, da die Klosteranlage in einiger Entfernung zum Zentrum von Verona liegt und es hier einigermaßen ruhig ist. Die Aufnahme entstand während einer Fahrradtour von Bozen nach Venedig.

The imposing Basilica San Zeno Maggiore is the finest church in Verona and one of the oldest and most important in Northern Italy. The first church was erected here in the fourth century to house the bones of San Zeno but the present building is mostly from the twelfth century (Romanesque), although the apse and roof are late fourteenth century. Ein Regentag auf der Piazza dei signori in Vicenza (Italien). Das Bild entstand 2014 auf der Radtour mit meiner Frau von Bozen nach Venedig. Das PiP zeigt die Piazza von der anderen Seite. Vicenza ist eine uralte Stadt keltischen Ursprungs.
