Bayfront Park, straddling the city line between Burlingame and Millbrae on San Francisco Bay, makes a lovely place to watch aircraft (and birds). With the distances involved, I had no aspirations for great photographs but just went for some fun shots on a sunny afternoon. Here, KLM MD-11 PH-KCA has crossed RW01R and is taxying for a westerly departure.

Having spent a week in Nice watching countless runway changes - perhaps a consequence of being on the sea - I could not leave without a couple of snatched shots from the late evening of my final day. For much of the day approach shots to 22 or 04 are into or across the sun. Here, a KLM Cityhopper Fokker 70 (believed to be PH-KZU) reflects mellow light as it follows its curved approach (to 22) across the Bay of Nice.

First time in many years with KLM today as loyalty to BA is being stretched a bit thin. Excellent service, on time performance and remarkable breakfast. Dank U Wel, KLM. This photograph is notable in that I used HDR for, I think, the first time, to combat the difficult lighting in the aircraft cabin. Here, the effect is put to good use rather than producing the much more familiar, strikingly unnatural images we see often. I read articles saying that HDR is used for a more realistic reproduction of what was seen. Really?
