It was taken in Vancouver when Pauline and I visited one of my Antarctic colleagues with whom I spent a year (1966) at Mawson Station. Max was our station electrician and a keen mountaineer.<br /> <br /> Today would have been Pauline's birthday. Sadly, I have also learned that today Max has climbed the final mountain.
