The band I was in at the time was touring the eastern half of the United States. This night's stop happened to be in Nashville, Tennessee. When we finished playing and got back to the hotel we were staying at, I went out looking for things to take pictures of. I saw this eerie scene in front of the hotel's restaurant and bar.

Taken on July 3rd, 2015, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

My proverbial Coca-Cola on Hallowe'en night back in 2007 at the Fairfield, Illinois Moose Lodge. The drummer of the band I'm in and I were playing guitars there that night and emceeing the costume contest they had. Taken with my Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D DSLR.

Back on April 12th, 2013, I had a serious reaction to an antibiotic I was prescribed and had to get to a hospital quickly. I was there for two days and on the second day, I had my girlfriend at the time bring one of my guitars to play because I was getting bored. This is a screen capture from a short video she filmed of me singing The Knack's classic hit "Good Girls Don't."

Grand Funk Railroad had a big hit with "We're An American Band." It's always been a favorite song of mine and I've played and sang in it a few bands of my own. This particular record is also one of my favorites because it's transparent vinyl. I read where it was released on dark yellow vinyl to symbolize a "gold" record.

For the Saturday Self-Challenge group, who's theme this week was to "Choose only one thing to photograph against the most basic background." I chose this single item, which is referred to as a "single," against a plain sky background.

And I don't mean the World Health Organization. The Who has always been one of my favorite bands because they have a sense of humor. What other band would play somebody else's songs simply because their names were similar? The Who used to play songs by The Guess Who in their live sets - I always thought that was pretty cool. Crazy man, crazy. This is a button on my guitar strap. If you look close, you can see Ringo Starr's head at the bottom.

For the Saturday Self-Challenge group who's theme this week was to create your very own album cover.

The Kermits I used ranged from 3 feet tall (the one at the top left), to 3 inches tall (the one on the lower right.) I had to photograph them at different distances so they would all have the same dimensions.

I saw Dennis Tufano, the original lead singer of The Buckinghams, sing this song in concert this past Saturday night down in Jackson, Tennessee. The Buckinghams were out of Chicago, which is in the state I live in and they got their name in the mid-1960's from Buckingham Fountain in Chicago because it sounded "British." It was in the first rush of the "British Invasion," so go figure! I've see Dennis down at those Caravan of Stars concerts at 6 different occasions now. He always puts on a great show.

This is one of the 45 r.p.m. records in my collections. Next time I see him, I should get him to autograph it. I'm probably revealing my age group by posting this - ha ha!

Rare Earth - "(I Know) I'm Losing You"

This past Saturday night, I was able to see the original lead singer/drummer of Rare Earth in concert not too far from where I live. The Caravan of Stars 31 concert was held in Jackson, Tennessee, about 4 and a half hours from my house, so it's a great little weekend trip. The radio station that holds these concerts, KOOL 103 has a tie-in with a local hotel and you get a great rate by booking there. Plus, all the stars stay there, too! Peter Rivera was the original drummer, who also sang lead for the group and he is still one of the most powerful drummers and vocalists in rock and roll today - he got the crowd to dancing and singing along. Even I had to sing along when he had the crowd to sing to "I Just Want To Celebrate."

This is one of the 45 r.p.m. records in my collections. Next time I see him, I should get him to autograph it.
