In addition to the usual documentary nature of this shot there is a story behind this impending flight. The intended destination of this aircraft was Houston [IAH] but the city was experiencing severe flooding, after a reported 16in of rain had fallen. The cabin crew were deplaned at Orange County and the flight crew remained on board to position the aircraft to Sacramento as UAL/UA2145. The aircraft was in position for a long time after an already delayed push-back from Gate 11 and slightly delayed the inbound UAL/UA5965 from SFO which would operate UAL/UA5794 back to SFO.
