NARUG QSL stamp

A relatively rare QSL stamp issued by the defunct NARUG (the National Amateur Radio Union of Greece) circa 1970. NARUG, founded by Din Psilogoannis SV1DB (SK), operated between 1968 and 1979, with the peak of their activity around 1969-1974.

Amateur radio QSL card send by SV1YY to VE3BLU in Ontario, Canada, confirming a 7 MHz CW QSO in May 1965.

This is an unlicensed operation under a self-assigned call sign, quite common in Greece before 1967. Dimitrios Psimorifos (now a silent key) was eventually licensed around 1980 as SV1NY. The reference to SV1AY is also spurious, the actual owner of SV1AY was named Dimitrios Kokkinis.

QSL card mailed directly to Canada, franked with a pair of "Traité de Sèvres" stamps of 2 drachmae, cancelled with an "ATHINAI- AVION" postmark on 31 VIII 65.

QSL card sent by SV1IS to W9QWM, confirming a 15 MHz CW QSO in June 1978. A stock Olympic Airways postcard was used with rubber stamps for callsign and data. The sender affixed a RAAG QSL stamp for sending via the bureau.

It appears that SV1IS held also an experimental radio station license of unknown type/purpose using callsign SZ2AAA.

QSL card confirming a 21 MHz FT8 (Digital) contact with Special Event Station SZ1AB aboard Armoured Cruiser Georgios Averof in June 2024.

The official ITU callsign of Averof was SZAB and it was adapted during this event to SZ1AB for compliance with the format of amateur radio callsigns.

The photograph used for the QSL card was taken after the 1925-1925 refit.

QSL card confirming a 3.7 MHz SSB contact with station OH8X (RadioArcala) in Finland, during the 2013 CQ WW SSB contest. At the time the station used the iconic low band HF yagi antenna shown on the QSL card: 3 elements on 160 m, 5 elements on 80 m and 4-over-4 elements on 40 m. Unfortunately the antenna collpsed during a storm a few weeks later, on December 3, 2013.

Broacast QSL letter issued by the Hellenic Armed Forces Information Service (ΥΕΝΕΔ), confirming reception of their HF broadcast on 6045 kHz in the 49m band on July 12, 1970 by a Swedish SWL. Signed by Colonel A. Kazos.

The Armed Forces Information Service was abolished by the leftist PASOK government in 1982.
