"The hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), or hyacinthine macaw, is a parrot native to central and eastern South America. With a length (from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail) of about one meter it is longer than any other species of parrot. It is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species; the flightless kākāpō of New Zealand outweighs it at up to 3.5 kg."

Sunday Challenge SC48: Shadow

These shadows reinforce that the elephant is in captivity. However, please note that the picture does not tell the full story. This elephant is part of a three elephant herd with a large outdoor area that includes a pool and waterfall and enrichment activities. This photo was taken at the edge of the interior of the elephant house when the elephant was brought inside for a shower and the full size of the interior area can not bee seen.

The elephant seemed to enjoy the attention, the treats and the bath.

This would be a difficult occupation to explain to the in-laws.

The Wilkinson Mill was built in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1810. The first floor contained a machine shop and the screw-cutting lathe was invented here. Prior to that, all screws were hand cut. This is part of the Blackstone Valley National Park
