This is the third in a short series of three detail captures from the abandoned Rowner flats featured here. I am fascinated by urban decay and the possibilities it offers the lens. The tree, now polled, might have once provided a little relief to the grimness of its surroundings.

The redevelopment of the Rowner estate in Gosport was sorely needed and what has been done so far appears to have been done well. Construction of the Alver Village continues and some of the old buildings still survive albeit in an advanced state of disrepair. These flats stand next to a smart new retail development including the Tesco whose sign provides the wry humour in this picture. I do not know how much longer they will survive.
