The last hundred meters before the "Engalm", which is the first goal. Those who want may drop out here. Those who didn't arrive here in between 8:30 hrs, must terminate, because it would be to late to continue the walk until Pertisau.

Die letzten hundert Meter vor dem Zwischenziel "Engalm". Wer will, kann hier aufhören. Wer nicht innerhalb von 8:30 Stunden eingetroffen ist, muss hier aufhören, weil es sonst zu spät würde für den Rest der Strecke bis Pertisau.

At each recreation area the first grip aims at the water. Here the runners have reached the third waypoint of the trail - after 24 kilometres.

An jeder Labestation geht der erste Griff zum Wasser. Dies ist die dritte auf den bisher gut 24 Kilometern.

This picture shows the alpine pasture, which the runners have to traverse. The location is called "Little Ahornboden". It was the first point of the trail, which could be achieved by bike during the competition with a long way round, as the competition trail of course was closed for bikers at that day.

Diese Fotoposition zeigt den Almcharakter des Hochtales, das die Läufer queren. Es handelt sich um den Kleinen Ahornboden und war die erste für den Fotografen überhaupt - auf Umwegen per Bike - erreichbare Location. Denn die Wettbewerbsstrecke war an dem Tag für Biker natürlich gesperrt.

Die Läuferin im Bild hat die Gesamtstrecke übrigens in +10:13:07 geschafft, von hier aus also noch knapp sieben Stunden vor sich:

It was most difficult to capture the runners as large as possible. There dwell time in front of the lense was only a part of a second.

Am schwierigsten war es, die Läufer/innen möglichst groß ist Bild zu holen. Denn beim erforderlichen Weitwinkel für den Hintergrund war ihre Verweilzeit vor der Linse nur Bruchteile von Sekunden.

Captured out of the same location but from a lower position, so that the summits of the Karwendel Mountains are to be seen better. Eventually this wasn't a normal marathon but an alpine track racing.

Am gleichen Standort aus tieferer Fotoposition aufgenommen, so dass die Gipfel des Karwendelgebirges besser ins Bild kommen. Schließlich war dies kein normaler Marathon, sondern ein Gebirgslauf.

Not beeing an experiecend sports photographer, my intention was to make pictures, which show the circumstances, atmosphere and emotions of this competition at it's best.
I've chosen this picture out of some hundred shots, because it shows the character of the trail in the alpine surroundings quite good. After three hours, 24 kilometers and 800 meters of altitude most of the hikers are still jogging.

Ich bin kein erfahrener Sportfotograf. Ich hab einfach mal versucht, Bilder zu machen, die die speziellen Besonderheiten, die Atmosphäre und die Emotionen einer solchen Veranstaltung wiedergeben.
Dieses Bild hab ich aus einigen hundert Aufnahmen ausgesucht, weil es die Beschaffenheit des Weges in der hochalpinen Umgebung ganz gut wiedergibt. Nach drei Stunden, 24 Kilometern und 800 bewältigten Höhenmetern joggen die meisten Teilnehmer noch.
