In 1948 he acquired this Austin bus which featured two large opening doors at the rear to load the mail and general goods. <br /> <br /> The Ross-shire Journal newspaper dated Friday 24th May 1963 reported that Duncan (Senior) was invested with the British Empire Medal when he retired after a period of 45 years service as the driver and mail contractor. His son, Duncan (Junior), then took over the role.
