Wigtown is a town and former royal burgh in Wigtownshire, of which it is the county town, It is now in he council area of Dumfries and Galloway,

Taken way back in 2007 with an elderly Practica camera which
despite my best efforts, always produced images with atmosphere!

Wigtown was officially designated as Scotland’s National Book Town in 1998 and is now home to a wide range of book-related businesses. A book lovers haven – and with over quarter of a million books to choose from, old and new … it is impossible to escape empty-handed.

West Quay, Bridgwater, The Fountain Inn, (note the date at the top), next building for many years had a dance venue on the first floor, the sign built into the brickwork lists it as the "Fisherman's Wharf" but known locally as "Oddfellows Hall" further down the green building was another pub "Kings Head"
Merchant ships tied up on both sides of the river and steps for access can be seen built into the wall!

Established in 1745 by the 3rd Duke of Argyll, head of the powerful Clan Campbell, the town is an absolute set piece of Scottish Georgian architecture.

Another week, another sale in Bridgwater's Fore Street, The statue is of Robert Blake who was born in Bridgwater in August 1598, the eldest son of Humphrey and Sarah Blake. His home is now the Blake Museum. Link to Admiral Blake's History, bridgwater-tc.gov.uk/history/17th-century/admiral-blake

Looking up the Main Street on the left is Main Street East and on the right Main Street West,The building at the top is Inverarary Church which was built between 1795 and 1802 it was built to house two congregations the English, or Lowland Church and the Gaelic, or Highland Church, a solid wall separated the two and the main entrance has a door for each, Note the church sits like a roundabout slap in the middle of the A83 main road.
The red van parked in the road belongs to the Royal Mail who's driver is collecting from the post office.
