Jetzt im Winter rollen sich die Blätter des Tüpfelfarns (Polypodium vulgare) nach oben und zeigen die prächtige Unterseite mit den orangeroten Sporenträgern ("Sori"). Und wenn sich dann noch Eiskristalle darauf absetzen, entsteht ein schönes Kunstwerk. Dieser Tüpfelfarn besiedelt schon seit Jahren meine Mülltonnenbox. Er braucht überhaupt keine Pflege. En erstaunliches Gewächs.

Now in winter, the leaves of the common polypody (Polypodium vulgare) curl upwards and reveal the magnificent underside with the orange-red sori. And when ice crystals settle on it, the result is a beautiful work of art. This fern has been colonising my bin box for years. It needs no care at all. An amazing plant.
