Saturday 2 August 1997 – Lowland Omnibuses 2102 (LAT 662), a Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Scania K113CRB, loading at St. Andrew’s Square bus station, Edinburgh as the 1045 hrs Scottish Citylink service 902 to Glasgow and Glasgow Airport. It was new in June 1990 as G102 RSH. Garage code ‘D’ is carried to indicate Dalkeith garage. Alongside is Allander Travel XAT 11X which would work the 1100 service to Glasgow. (Might have been new as P502 XGA)

Saturday 2 August 1997 – The Scottish Citylink service between Edinburgh and Glasgow operated every 15 minutes at this time of day. Two contractor’s vehicles are seen here at St. Andrew’s Square bus station, Edinburgh. Left is Allander Travel XAT 11X, a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M (might have been new as P502 XGA) which would work the 1100 service to Glasgow. Right is Lowland Omnibuses 2102 (LAT 662), a Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Scania K113CRB, working the 1045 hrs departure to Glasgow and Glasgow Airport. It was new in June 1990 as G102 RSH.

Sunday 2 December 1990 - Cambridge Coach Services 345 (D345 KVE), a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M new to Premier Travel in 1987. It was seen at Waterbeach before going out to work the 1245 hrs service 79 from Cambridge to Gatwick. This was one of the Van Hools which had destination equipment fitted. The regular driver of this coach had a teddy bear mascot which sat on the sun visor tracking as if it was sat on a swing.

Sunday 2 December 1990 - Cambridge Coach Services 345 (D345 KVE), a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M new to Premier Travel in 1987. It was seen at Heathrow Central bus station when working the 1245 hrs service 79 from Cambridge to Gatwick. This was one of the Van Hools which had destination equipment fitted.

Sunday 2 December 1990 (1540) - Two Volvo B10M coaches Cambridge Coach Services seen in the coach station of the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport. Nearest the camera is 345 (D345 KVE), with a Van Hool Alizee body, which had just arrived as the 1245 hrs service 79 from Cambridge. In fornt of it was 365 (E365 NEG), with a Plaxton Paramount body, which was working the 1545 hrs departure back to Cambridge. Both coaches were new to Premier Travel.

Saturday 28 May 1994 – Lloyd's and Nash, Nuneaton DJI 5578, a Van Hool Alizée bodied Volvo B10M new to Premier Travel Services (347) in April 1987 registered D847 KVE. Latterly operated by Cambridge Coach Services. It still carried the fleet number 347. Premier added ten such coaches (342-351) to the fleet that year registered in the D-KVE series and whilst 342-345 and 350/351 carried matching registrations numbers coaches 346-349 were registered D846-849 KVE.

It was seen parked at RAF Mildenhall attending the annual Air Fete. This event was one of the largest aircraft shows in the country until it ceased to be for security reasons (circa early 2000s).

Sunday 1 July 1990 - A number of Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M coaches were transferred from Premier Travel Services to Cambridge Coach Services at its formation. 348 (D848 KVE) seen at Waterbeach before going out to work the 1545 hrs service 78 from Cambridge to Gatwick. Premier bought nine such vehicles in 1987 which carried fleet numbers 342-351. Whilst 342-345 and 349-352 carried matching D-KVE plates, 346-351 were registered D846-851 KVE. Note that a destination screen was not fitted.

Sunday 4 November 1990 - Cambridge Coach Services 348 (D848 KVE), a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M new to Premier Travel in 1987, seen at Huntingdon bus station having worked a feeder from Sawston and Cambridge to connect with the day excursion to Alton Towers fun park. A laser and firework display was the added attraction at the normal fun rides at the park today.

The coach then went on to work the 1045 hrs Cambridge to Gatwick Airport service 79 and the 1445 hrs service 78 back. In my notes I wrote that the coach became a ‘pig to drive’ on the homeward stretch between Luton and Cambridge with gear selection becoming very difficult.

Sunday 4 November 1990 - Cambridge Coach Services 348 (D848 KVE), a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M new to Premier Travel in 1987, seen at the old Stansted Airport Terminal on the northern side of the airport. This spacious new passenger terminal replaced it as the public terminal in 1991 whereupon it became the private jet terminal. Earlier in the day this coach had worked an excursion feeder from Sawston and Cambridge to Huntingdon connect with the day excursion to Alton Towers fun park. It then went on to work the 1045 hrs Cambridge to Gatwick Airport service 79 and the 1445 hrs service 78 back. Sunday 4 November 1990 – The driver’s seat of Cambridge Coach Services D848 KVE, a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M, seen at Gatwick Airport coach park having completed the 1045 hrs service 79 from Cambridge. The left hand segment of the console contains the radio/tape deck unit which is mounted above the public address/audio control unit along with all the lighting, heating and fan switches. The ‘joy stick’ lever is for the Telma retarder brake. The next segment contains the fuel, brake pressure gauges and rev counter. The tachograph unit with time clock is the next item which is just catching the reflected light.

It stayed in the CCS fleet longer than its sisters as it was unique in having facilities for the disabled. It was seen here at Waterbeach showing the disabled logos on the rear panel.

Monday 6 March 1995 (1425) - Cambridge Coach Services Limited 350 (D350 KVE), a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M new in 1987, was one of the vehicles transferred from Premier Travel Services when CCS was formed. It stayed in the CCS fleet longer than its sisters as it was unique in having facilities for the disabled. Sunday 24 June 1990 (Midsummer Day) - Cambridge Coach Services 351 (D351 KVE) basking in the morning sunshine at Gatwick Airport on one of the longest days of the year. It had worked the 0345 hrs service 78 from Cambridge. The electronic destination display was somewhat awry and wouldn’t clear down to blank or re-set. Consequently showing the obscure display of ’39 CAPSICK A+P’ instead of ’78 GATWICK A/P’.

Saturday 22 October 1994 - Rover Coaches of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire shared common ownership with
Cambridge Coach Services. Rover 349 (YXI 2749), sporting the same livery as CCS, was seen at Drummer Street, Cambridge as the driver tried in vain to get on to the express loading stands which were full to capacity at the time. This was the 1230 hrs service from Cambridge to Birmingham. Unfortunately the service didn’t prove as popular as one might expect and the service ceased one week later (Saturday 29 October 1994). New to Bleanch, Hetton-le-Hole as F885 RFP in March 1989.
