Lewis and Clark bridge, crossing the Columbia at Longview, WA, opened in 1930. Per Bridgehunter, the ‘imposing’ dimensions of the structure are due not to the needs of the site but due to extreme demands placed on construction of the bridge by the port of Portland in an effort to prevent its construction. Along Columbia Park Trail, a very nicely designed parkway along the Columbia in Kennewick. In the distance is the Pioneer Memorial Bridge, popularly known as the Blue Bridge.

This parkway, other parks, the multiple expressways the number of bridges, and the amount of traffic surprised me. I did not realize that the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland) were such a large and relatively metropolitan area (population > 200,000).

Dusk along the Columbia in Kennewick. There were multiple friendly people out just walking around and taking pictures, even though it was quite cold.

Lighthouses aren’t used on inland rivers…. this is on Clover Island, a hotel/marina development in the Columbia at Kennewick. Chatting with a local photographer who was out taking sunset/moonrise photos, she said the lighthouse was built solely as a tourist attraction.

Railroad bridge across the Snake river near its junction with the Columbia. The bridge connects Pasco and Burbank, WA. The age of the bridge isn't clear, there was a bridge built here in 1884 but there is an assumption that is a major modification from the 1950's. See: bridgehunter.com/wa/franklin/bh51774

Taken from the Pasco side, the Pasco-Kennewick Cable bridge over the Columbia. Opened in 1978, the bridge was the first in the U.S. to use a 'cable-stayed' design.

Port Kelley, WA -- it's so small, it doesn't have a Wikipedia page. It appears to consist of these grain elevators and a nearby marina. There are no towns nearby and there are other ports that seem more accessible to farms, so its unclear why an elevator/dock was built here.

McNary Dam, just upriver from Umatilla, OR. Completed with all power units operational in 1957, 7,365 feet long; the navigation lock has a vertical lift of 75 feet.
