Tarjei Vesaas (1897-1970) war ein norwegischer Schriftsteller aus Telemark, der in Nynorsk schrieb, der zweiten offiziellen norwegischen Sprache, die von 10-15% der Norweger, vor allem in den südwestlichen Fjorden und Fjells, gesprochen wird.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Für seinen 1963 erschienenen Roman Is-slottet (Das Eis-Schloss) bekam er den Literaturpreis des Nordischen Rates.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Das Eis-Schloss ist ein gefrorener Wasserfall, in dem sich eine der Protagonistinnen, die 11jährige Unn, verläuft und erfriert.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
"Wieder ein neuer Raum. Er war wirklich klein und erfüllt von vielen tropfenden Eiszapfen an der Decke, erfüllt von irgendwie vom Boden heraufwachsenden Eiszapfen, rissige Wände in vielerlei verschiedenen Neigungen, so dick, dass das grüne Licht gedämpft wurde. Nicht gedämpft war der Wasserfall, hier war sein Rauschen auf einmal ganz nah oder unten oder wo auch immer- man war irgendwie mitten darin."&lt;br /&gt;

It is just 600m from much better known Seljalandsfoss and much less crowded. To get to the waterfall you either have to wade the stream or balance on wet rocks and once you are in front of the falls you get a full shower - I stayed outside;-)&lt;br /&gt;

It is just 600m from much better known Seljalandsfoss and much less crowded. To get to the waterfall you either have to wade the stream or balance on wet rocks and once you are in front of the falls you get a full shower - I stayed outside;-)&lt;br /&gt;

Getting a nearer view involves scrambling up the rocks or wading the river, both can be hazardous.&lt;br /&gt;

Although the park covers 1541 km² only small sections along Ruta 7 (Carretera Austral) are open to the public, the large part is undisturbed rainforest, mountains and glacier.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The hanging glacier originates from a small 80 km² icefield and can often be heard and seen calving into the lagoon below it. On our visit a large chunk broke off, sadly we were in the forest at the time and the trees were in the way of a decent photo. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
