The Techantinger Mittagskogel is a distinctive mountain on border between Austria and Slovenia near the town of Villach. Rising to 1,931 metres, it is part of the Karawank Alps.

Built between 1848 and 1854, the Semmeringbahn is an engineering marvel. Built to connect Vienna to southeastern Austria, the line remains in heavy use but will see reduced services when the Semmering Base tunnel opens in 4-5 years. For now, the Semmeringbahn is an incredibly scenic journey through the eastern Alps.

InterCity Express 'Markt Holzkirchen' (#41106-7) of Deutsche Bahn waiting in Vienna central station. The station has a very unusual roof construction creating many different lines and shadows.
