the glass set into the tiles lets light flood through the stained glass ceiling panels in the crossing. English Heritage has spent a fortune retiling this church, a fact I had to use as ammunition to gain entrance to take photos about a year ago. there really should be a "no access, no grant" policy, this is public money after all. ok, soapbox away now, carry on....
