fancy metalwork on the west doors of gilbert blount's r.c. church of 1853-5, more effective at a distance than close up. money must have run out; the crossing tower and transepts were never built, the capitals here never carved, and cheap flat ironwork used on the doors.

gilbert blount's chancel was completed to a cheaper design with a plaster vault in 1898, but is still a pretty bit of work. the reredos dates from 1901, made by edmund sharpe of dublin to the rather dull design of the rev. m.j. watters

gilbert blount's original design meant this arch of 1853-5 at the east end of the nave to lead to a crossing, but finances led to a cheaper eastern chancel and apse built in 1894
