Oregon Redwood and Brandy

I find it amazing that a massive tree species, Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), has such tiny needles and a cone smaller than a nutmeg. There are several young (maybe 100 years old) 30 meter tall redwoods in downtown Eugene. Since redwoods can live more than 2000 years, I wonder what will become of them -- and enjoy a delicious apple brandy.

Calvados is the brandy for which Normandy is famous. We purchased a bottle at the market in Le Molay-Littry, one of the places we stayed while touring Normandy and the D-Day beaches.

The best drink namewise has to be the Coronet Stratosphere. ("2 parts brandy, 1 part rum, 1 level tsp. sugar. Shake well with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Add a dash of lemon juice.") You try it first. I'm leery.
