Skyline Rim or Moonscape Overlook is near Factory Butte. We watched the sunrise there and this was the butte from the overlook.

Monument Valley on the Utah and Arizona border is full of unusual and beautiful formations, but one of the most striking is Camel Butte, shown here, near the beginning of the 27 mile loop through this tribal park.

Steptoe Butte is a quartzite island jutting out of the silty loess of the Palouse hills in Whitman County, Washington, in the northwest United States.The 3,612-foot (1,101 m) butte is preserved as Steptoe Butte State Park, a publicly owned 150-acre (61 ha) recreation area located 12 miles (19 km) north of Colfax (Wikipedia).

This is a view from Steptoe Butte in eastern Washington. Steptoe is a 3,612-foot (1,101 m) quartzite outcrop in the Palouse area and about an hour south of Spokane.

I do not often take panoramas nor do I often use my phone for photos but it easier to do panoramas on my phone than with my DSLR, so here's a phone panorama from the top of Stepttoe Butte in Eastern Washington. The quartzite butte is 3,612 feet (1,101 m) high and stands above the surrounding country like beacon. The views from the Palouse are over the surrounding hills of the Palouse an area of rolling hills that is largely given to wheat farming. The butte is about an hour south of Spokane.

Winchester Mountain Sunrise

Taken on the trail to the top of Winchester Mountain from the area where we stopped to photograph the sunrise. I believe that the peak silhouetted by the rising sun is Big Bosom Butte, though I take no responsibility for the name. The main attraction was Mount Baker which we photographed endlessly in the light of the rising sun.

I have so many pictures to post that I am going to post several a day for a while. Please do not feel obligated to comment on them all. I know how much work it is to keep up with commenting on the photos of contacts and friends and neither expect nor wish to put my contacts to extra trouble.
