the north wall of the nuns' original church founded around 670 remains as part of the church, with the remains of roman tile voussoirs showing in several places high up to clear the cloister roof.

late c7 celtic grave marker, the left hand portion says deniel son of ...auprit lies here, the other says iudnerth son of qu... both are written on roman stones, and would have been fixed upright as tall pillars in the graveyard here.

two 20ft. tall columns stand in the crypt, they are those that carried the triple arched chancel screen of the now ruined church at reculver. they date from the founding of the church in 669. the capitals are simplified block capitals, not yet quite as defined as cushion capitals.
