Not quite sure where this photo was taken, but it was taken way back on 17 September 2010. I seem to remember that that was the year that was so good for fungi. Not sure that I'll be getting out to find any this year, so I might just go through some archived files. Just checked on Flickr and discovered that these mushrooms were seen at a Birthplace Forest near the edge of Fish Creek Park.

Several of these very small mushrooms were growing on a nearby cut-down tree stump, and these two were growing amongst the leaf and needle litter, at Reader Rock Garden yesterday. I thought the cracked results were so beautiful and they reminded me a little of small flowers.

These were such tiny mushrooms, seen on a pile of horse manure at the Handfield's 152-acre property, west of Millarville. We were lucky enough to get the chance to go back there and do a second botanizing trip! An amazing forest for fungi! It's always so much fun having one's lens (and nose!) an inch away from those mushrooms that grow on horse manure, LOL.

A friend told me about a display of fungi near Fish Creek Park last year, so of course I had to go and check it out : ) Taken on 29 June 2012, near the edge of the eastern end of the park. Wish I knew what kind of mushrooms these are - I love the patterns that form on the top surface of the caps. The look so much like some of the Easter Hot Cross Buns that I buy.

Any chance that these could be Cracked-Cap Mushroom / Agrocybe dura? Apparently, they are very common in wood mulch, which fits with my photo.

Not sure if these are Coprinus, but I just like the way the cap edges curl up and over. Could these be Coprinopsis atramentaria? Seen at the Handfield's acreage, south of the city, on 17th August. We had heavy rain AGAIN, overnight - surely this has to keep the mushrooms a-coming? We saw a handful of beautiful Shaggy Manes/Inky Caps yesterday, on a walk at Clearwater Park. Yet another dull day today, so I guess I will stay home. Feel sorry for anyone hoping to spend some time outdoors this long weekend. I am SO stressed out - trying to renew my Pro Account for yet another year (my fifth). I've e-mailed for help about it, and got an automated reply. Checked various things and can't for the life of me see what else I need to do!!!! I have wasted so much time the last few days, trying to get my payment made. Getting really annoyed about this and very concerned that it will mess up my photostream. Any suggestions, anyone? Guess I should have added this paragraph when I actually uploaded my photo, not when you had all left your kind comments .... sigh.

Later, half past midnight - thank goodness, at long last, I've managed to renew my Fickr Pro Account. What an absolute pain this has been the last few days! I ended up signing for a two-year renewal. Thought I would click on 2-year to see if it might work that way and it did, for whatever reason. Now I can avoid having to go through all this hassle again in a year's time!!

The ground was covered with similar mushrooms, in every direction, and though every single one was old and withered, I thought they had a strange kind of beauty. What a sight it must have been when they were all fresh! Seen in a small area of mixed trees in Jim Coutts' homestead garden, south of the city, near Nanton, on 5th September.

Another little huddle of mushrooms in lovely sunlight in the forest at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. Sometimes, you can just be lucky and find the sunlight shining down through the trees just where a mushroom happens to be growing.

An absolutely useless photo as far as being to identify these mushrooms is concerned, but I just liked the sheen and sparkle of the two caps against the dark. Seen in the forest on someone's acreage, south of the city and near Millarville.
