The colors and figures on the ceiling painting of the library are amazing.

Although that is a modern light fitting, it does match the Art Deco style of the ceiling. Although, this modern rendering is not as elaborate as the original !
Sadly under exposed, as using flash did the opposite.

The Bastide Rudelle was founded around 1250 by Bertrand de Cardaillac, the lord of Lacapelle-Marival, on a side route of the Camino de Santiago (Via Podiensis).

The church of Saint-Martial was originally the chapel of a pilgrim hospital.

The first mention of a fortified church dates back to 1320. The second level was likely added only in the 14th century as a refuge chamber to protect the inhabitants of Rudelle from the unrest caused by the passage of mercenary companies and bandits during the Hundred Years' War.

It only became a parish church in the second half of the 15th century, in 1470, at the request of the inhabitants. In 1471, Astorg de Cardaillac, lord of Lacapelle-Marival, ceded his tower in Rudelle to the inhabitants so that they could take refuge there and store their belongings. However, they were required to maintain and repair it.

In 1593, during the Wars of Religion, the Duke of Bouillon, Viscount of Turenne and a Protestant, came to besiege the tower, which was defended by the inhabitants of Rudelle.

PiP: stucco detail in another room.
We moved into our new apartment in February, just in time for "stay at home" -orders.
The house was built in 1910 by a regionally renowned architect Joseph Koch (he also built the "Velodrom": - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velodrom_(Regensburg).

It was originally the church of a Benedictine abbey founded in 558 by Childebert I, the son of Clovis, King of the Franks. The abbey was destroyed by the Vikings, rebuilt, and renamed in the 8th century for Saint Germain, a 6th century bishop. It was rebuilt with elements in the new Gothic style in the 11th century, and was given the earliest flying buttresses in the Ile de France in the 12th century. It is considered the oldest existing church in Paris"

It was badly damaged during the French Revolution and recreated/reimagined in the mid-1800's as a medieval church. The interior is strikingly beautiful and the organ is awe inspiring.

With over 635,000 inhabitants, Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland, ahead of Edinburgh, and the third largest city in the United Kingdom after London and Birmingham.

Around 80 AD, the Romans colonised the city, which was probably called Cathures at the time. The Romans later built the Antonine Wall around 140 AD to separate Roman Britain from Celtic and Pictish Caledonia. According to legend, Glasgow itself was founded by the Christian missionary St Mungo in the 6th century. He is said to have built a church on the site of today's cathedral. Construction of St Mungo's Cathedral began in the 12th century. In 1451, the University of Glasgow was founded by papal decree. By the beginning of the 16th century, Glasgow had become an important religious and academic centre.

In the 6th century Saint Mungo is said to have brought the body St Fergus, for burial. Saint Ninian is reputed to have dedicated the burial ground. Mungo built a monastic cell in the burial ground, and was buried in his church there in 614. His shrine in the Lower Church of Glasgow Cathedral was an important place of pilgrimage in the medieval period.

The first stone cathedral was built, initiated by the decision of David I to establish a bishopric at Glasgow, the new cathedral was consecrated in 1136. The cathedral rose slowly over a period of some 150 years.

Destroyed or severely damaged by fire, the first cathedral was succeeded by the present Gothic cathedral, which was consecrated in 1197. It was constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries. The church was the seat of the bishops and later the archbishops of Glasgow. Since 1690, the cathedral has no longer been the seat of a bishop. Since then, the designation as a cathedral has been a historical title of honour and indicates the original function as a Roman Catholic diocesan church of the Archbishopric of Glasgow.

Das Neumünster ist ein ehemaliges Kollegiatstift und dessen Kirche in Würzburg.
Das Neumünster steht an der Stelle, an der im Jahre 689 die Frankenapostel Kilian, Kolonat und Totnan wegen ihres Glaubens getötet und zunächst heimlich begraben wurden. Eine erste Gedenkstätte wurde bereits im achten Jahrhundert von Bischof Megingoz errichtet. Bischof Adalbero gründete dann um 1060 das Stift Neumünster. Seit dem 18. Jahrhundert präsentiert sich das Neumünster als monumentale, kuppelüberwölbte Barockkirche.

Der vorliegende Fassadenausschnitt präsentiert die Figuren des Christus Salvator und der Landespatrone, welche von Balthasar Esterbauer geschaffen wurden. Darunter befindet sich die Himmelfahrtsszene, auch "Assunta" genannt, welche von Jakob van der Auwera stammt.

Schrein der Gebeine der drei Frankenapostel Kilian, Kolonat und Totnan in der Kiliansgruft.
