Thrives on lime-poor scree in alpine to nival altitudes (2,000 - 3,500m), where actually only lichens and mosses occur.  (Seen while descending from &lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;Grosser Ilfinger&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt; (South Tyrol, Italy) to an altitude of approx. 2,550 m.)&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;Einblütiges Hornkraut&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;. Gedeiht auf kalkarmem Schutt in alpinen bis nivalen Höhenlagen (2.000 - 3.500m), wo eigentlich nur noch Flechten und Moose vorkommen.  (Gesehen beim Abstieg vom &lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;Großen Ilfinger&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt; (Südtirol, Italien) auf ca. 2.550 m Höhe.)&lt;/div&gt;</description>
