A very hurried snap of a south(ish) bound chopper, so not really crisply foccused, sorry.
I could hear it, but spotting the flight path was another matter.
Good gliding weather with plenty of vertical development ie available lift under / in the cumulus clouds.

From the sound, almost certainly the local air ambulance, following the A69 / railway down in the Tyne Valley..

I came across this cool little chopper parked up outside a tattoo parlour here in Northallerton. Only registered in June this year and manufactured by Pioneer (not a make I'm familiar with) it may well have been modified considerably as I doubt this is how it was purchased.

Either way, with it's matt black paint and red wheels it really looked the business even if it only has a tiny little 123cc engine.

It was also crying out for a bit of selective colouring in the 'processing room' ... hope you guys like it as much as I did.

I spotted this gorgeously menacing and beautifully crafted chopper travelling though Northallerton yesterday. I actually had to run after it and just managed to grab this shot when it stopped briefly at the traffic lights.

Due to the circumstances, not exactly the best shot I've ever taken, hence me taking time to do some post-processing on it, but I thought it worth sharing.

Probably best viewed large on black if you have the time and inclination to do so.

Apologies to the owner if he happens to come across my photostream for the dramatic title, but it was crying out for it as it was a genuinely awesome and dramatic sight as it rumbled though our little market town.

I'm sure he's a really nice guy, but at the same time I'd not have been surprised if this orange beast had left a trail of flames Johnny Blaze style in its wake!

The theme this week for The Sunday Challenge was shoot a stranger.

More often than not I like to take a new photo for the challenge, but this week I decided to look through my archives and find some previously 'unpublished' shots that might suit the topic.

This one was taken at Northallerton Rugby Club when the Harley-Davidson Riders Club of Great Britain used it to stage their North East Rally back in 2013.

Unlike the vast majority of car/bike shows that I attend this one wasn't open to the public - it was more an event for members with entertainment laid on over the weekend. However, I had a word with the guys on the gate to see if they thought people would mind if I went in to take some photos and they kindly agreed to let me do so.

The man in this shot was one of the first people I met and, like everyone else there, he made me feel welcome and not at all ill at ease. No real surprise though to me as I mixed with a great many real biker types during my young adult life. In fact, my best man when we got married was an ex-biker.

Anyway, back to the shot in question. I was quite happy with it in colour, but decided the subject matter might lend itself to the mono treatment, which is the route I ended up taking.
