Evening atmosphere on the northern shore of Lake Garda (Trentino, Italy). The surfers have brought their boards into the dry. Most of the tourists are making their way to a restaurant. A few enjoy the silence on the shore.

Lorenzo Is Coming

Gestern (2. Oktober 2019) donnerte «Lorenzo» über die Kanarischen Inseln, morgen werden seine Reste Deutschland und Österreich erreichen. Erste Anzeichen waren bereits heute Nachmittag sichtbar. (Aufgenommen neben unserer Wohnanlage in St. Johann in Tirol (Osterreich). Im Hintergrund das Kaisergebirge.)

Die Neue Züricher Zeitung schreibt dazu heute (mit Abbildung der Zugbahn des Hurrikans): "Seit Beginn der Aufzeichnungen lag noch kein Hurrikan der Stärke 5 so weit im Norden und Osten des Atlantiks wie «Lorenzo». Als Hurrikan der Stärke 5 erreichte er zeitweise Windgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 295 Kilometer pro Stunde. Am Mittwoch wurde der Sturm vom amerikanischen Nationalen Hurrikan-Zentrums (NHC) auf Kategorie 1 herabgestuft. Einen Rekord stellt er auch dar wegen seiner momentanen Grösse: noch nie mass ein Hurrikan an dieser Stelle im Atlantik 400 Kilometer im Durchmesser."
