One of the aircraft in the cold war V-bomber grouping, designed for high-altitude attacks, was withdrawn in 1965 as the change to low-level tactics over-stressed the airframes.
There is a clear panel in place of the door, allowing visitors to see into the crew compartment - the two pilots sit side-by-side in the upper cockpit. Currently wearing the all-white ant-flash livery.

The only RAF type to have dropped nuclear [albeit test] weapons, the first one was in October 1956.
This aircraft, XD818, dropped the first British hydrogen bomb in May 1957.
[The object under the wing is a "Yellow Sun" nuclear bomb.

Lovely [not] Yellow Warning form the UK's Met Office for Snow & Ice on Saturday 15th February 2025. I don't remember the road outside being gritted !

{Definitely damp & relatively feeling very cold this morning - yesterday, tipped ice from the bird bath onto the grass, this morning it was still there, completely unthawed}.

e2a [on the 16th] definitely had the ice yesterday - very slippery & lasted all day, but no snow ...

snow on some rugurosa hedging - this will get trimmed back in the spring - the haws have been food and the bushes shelter for garden birds.
