This little fella was scampering around in my "new" greenhouse. I found him or her when shuffling some pots around, so I used this plastic box as a protection / rescue facility while I set up the ridge tile, etc.
I wondered why the fly count was so low.

He's been provided with shelter [an old ridge tile], a dish with stones & water and will shortly have a small log or three under the tile.

Back in the days of my old, wooden greenhouse I had a resident adult toad for several years. S/he had a choice of a ridge tile or a couple of clay drainage pipes, and a wood pile just outside.

A small toad, about 2.5" [6cm] from nose to rear end.

Surprisingly energetic, but quite happy to be picked up [no defensive actions].
Found just inside the back door, pretty sure s/he had been hunting in the log pile.

Toad C - more of a toadlet, as s/he is just a smidgeon over 1" [25mm] from the tip of the nose to the blunt end. Note warty skin and dull colouration. Another visitor via the log pile by the back door. Probably one of this spring's spawn.

This is one of a sequence of 19 images, but a lot are blurred by the toadlet moving, often quite suddenly as s/he was a lively individual. Safely released back into the wild wood, next to one of the stick piles, not far from the pond.
