Taken in the Skagit Valley north of Seattle in the fields of the bulb growers, this fallen daffodil flower caught my eye as I was attempting to capture the reflections of the daffodils in the water between the rows.

When I was back in western Washington recently I visited the Skagit Valley to see how the tulips and daffodils were coming along in the fields of the bulb growers. There were no tulips blooming yet and the daffodils were just starting. This is one of the few fields I found.

This is where we were last Thursday. We had a break from all the rain and a beautiful sunny day and took advantage of it by driving down to the Skagit Valley to see the daffodil fields and to do some bird watching. We saw the flocks of Snow Geese and the Trumpeter Swans that winter in the valley as well as many raptors, Bald Eagles, Red-tailed, Rough-legged and Sparrow Hawks, Several Peregrine Falcons and a lot of ducks and herons. These are, obviously, some of the daffodils that were in bloom.

When I visited Roozengarde's the tulips were nearing the end of their bloom season and there were very few daffodils left. These were among the very few I photographed. We had such an early spring that nearly missed the tulips - would have missed them except for a hasty visit the middle of April.

This was taken in the Skagit Valley of western Washington among the fields of the bulb growers there. At the time the photo was taken the tulips were just starting to bloom and the daffodils were at their peak. We'll be going again before long to see the tulips and the gardens of the main bulb growers.

Photographed in the fields of the Skagit Valley bulb growers by my wife, who not only got the best pictures of the day when we were there, but, it seems, got all the really good pictures. I thought this was wonderful and am as envious as I can be.

We were out at the fields of the bulb growers today to see the tulip fields which are in full bloom and this is what we found in one of the first fields we visited. There are fields that are kept for the tourists and they are usually well weeded, too, but other fields where the bulbs are grown for sale have their flowers removed as soon as they open to conserve the bulbs' strength That had been done in this field which we visited early in the morning.

Another shot from the daffodil fields in the Skagit Valley. We've had quite a bit of rain in March and April and that certainly shows here.

These are some of the daffodil fields of the bulb growers in the Skagit Valley with the North Cascades as a distant backdrop. There are many more fields but this shot was taken from one of the few places where this is higher ground from which more of the fields are visible.

This is one of my wife's photos, taken on a recent outing to the Skagit Valley to see the fields of the bulb growers in bloom. A link to her blog and more photos is given below. The weather was rather overcast that day and this was taken toward the end of the day, but was, in my opinion, one of the better photos of the day.

The Skagit Valley lies An hour south of us and is the home of the Dutch bulb growers. We try to get down every spring, first to see the daffodil fields and then the tulip fields and we managed a brief trip a few weeks ago to see the daffodils. After meandering the roads to see the fields we ended up at Roozengaarde's, one of the largest growers, and at their display gardens, where this photo was taken.
