Pictures for Pam, Day 158: Pink-Tipped Daisy

Once again I'm very late with my picture and post! Steve and I were out on many errands today and didn't get home until after 6 so I'm going to have to make this short…

While we drove around, we got to enjoy a typical spring day in southern Oregon. The weather that ranged from overcast to rainy to a bright sunny day with blue skies filled with fluffy clouds. It's so green and lovely now with flowers popping up everywhere. Such a delight.

I got a couple of pictures processed from our adventure to Jacksonville and thought they would be perfect for tonight's post.

Jacksonville has a large public garden that I visited, and though it was pretty sparse in terms of flowers, they had an enormous lawn that was dotted with the prettiest daisies I'd ever seen! I had a wonderful time taking pictures and the main image turned out just as I'd hoped! I rarely see daisies adorned with pink-tipped petals but there were lots of them everywhere in the grass so I went crazy with pictures! As I wandered around I found a little wasp on one of them and I managed to get a good picture of it too! (I'm also sharing a panorama showing the sort of lovely day it was today!)

(I also got lots of flowering tree blossoms while I was there, and a bunch of others too, I hope I'll get to post them at some point!)

Pam, I looked for a picture of a daisy...noop! I looked for another wasp picture other than the one I'd already featured...only hive pictures and they are too scary and creepy! So I did a search for "bee" and pounced on this lovely image of a bee on a moonflower at dusk. Perfect! Your main image is fantastic, as were the insets you also included. It's so nice when we provide a wonderful source of nectar for them...when I had my poppy garden it was the most popular place for a mile around I think...I could hear the buzz of bees from a long distance and they were all over the flowers and yet, so docile that I could move among them in complete harmony. Wonderful memories, thank you for that! Well, here's another wish that your day went well! More *hugs* for you!

I love the abstractness of a bud that's just beginning to open. It's hard to recognize what it is at first. They look to me like a hungry monster with a mouth full of teeth! Another thing that surprised me was how cool opening buds look as a close-up. I never realized how interesting the details would be! This is another flower from my friend's garden that I captured a few years ago.

What a magnificent flower to have in a garden. Easy to grow, these plants will reward you with dozens of stunning blossoms over 2-3 months! They are a fantastic photography subject from bud to after they have dried up! And because they are large, they make fine practice subjects for photographers of all levels. Being large with a shape that isn't hard to capture, they are forgiving for newer photographers. For those who are adept at macro photography, the macro details offered by this flower abound! Hairy sepals, leaves and stems, velvety-looking centers, and as this flower matures, the brown area you see erupts into tiny yellow florets! Black-eyed Susans are MAGNIFICENT!! :)

(I photographed this beauty in my raised-bed garden a few years ago, and had fun adding a texture to the background. :D)

Today when I went out into our smaller meadow, I saw a black beetle fly by and land on a daisy. It was so intent on gobbling pollen that I was able to get several images before it took off and flew away! I usually have trouble with black beetles because it's so hard to see their eyes, but I think this one turned out quite well! Hooray!

My friend's garden was full of different kinds of flowers and ornamental plants and I could easily spend weeks taking pictures of all the treasures she has! This was a pretty little daisy that I found, and the pink bokeh behind are flowers! :D

This morning I planned to cross our smaller meadow and look in our lower forest for flowers growing there, but I didn't get that far. On our gravel driveway we have tiny daisies that bloom every May and June, oblivious to the fact that it's dry as a bone there with zero nutrient to sustain anything. Up they pop, and this is one of the very first this year!
