Monument to the last Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I (1830 - 1916) on the Bergisel bei Innsbruck (Tyrol, Austria). He was the last European emperor to die while still in his empire.

In his presence, the monument in honour of Andreas Hofer was ceremoniously unveiled on the Bergisel on 28 September 1893:

Monument des letzten österreichischen Kaisers Franz Joseph I (1830 - 1916) auf dem Bergisel bei Innsbruck (Tirol). Er war der letzte europäische Kaiser, der noch in seinem Reich starb.

In seinem Beisein wurde am 28. September 1893 das Denkmal zu Ehren von Andreas Hofer auf dem Bergisel feierlich enthüllt:

View from the western edge of the Hinterstein Lake (Tyrol, Austria) to the west. From here, hiking trail 822 leads over the Stairs of Stone to Kufstein. On the way there are cosy places to stop for refreshments.

Blick vom Seespitz am westlichen Ende des Hintersteiner Sees (Tirol, Österreich) nach Westen. Von hier aus führt der Wanderweg 822 über die Steinerne Stiege bis nach Kufstein. Unterwegs gibt es gemütliche Einkehrmöglichkeiten.

Entrance of the fixed rope route Emperor Franz Josef which leads upon the Hochblaser (1.771m, Steiermark, Österreich).

The hint with the skull is to be taken seriously. The climb requires a lot of courage and fitness, because it goes up 770 climbing metres in an airy south wall. Very often vertical, sometimes slightly backwards overhanging, no emergency exit. (Topo). To be honest: When I saw the wall, I preferred to do it like the Emperor. I stayed on the ground floor and was served in the nearby beer garden. At the age of 65, after more than 250 climbing tours, I no longer have to prove anything to myself.

Der "Wink mit dem Schädel" ist ernst zu nehmen. Der Steig braucht gute Nerven und ordentlich Kondition, denn es geht in einer luftigen Südwand 770 Klettermeter aufwärts. Sehr oft senkrecht, manchmal leicht rückwärts überhängend, kein Notausstieg (Topo). Um ehrlich zu sein: Beim Anblick der Wand hab ich es lieber gemacht wie der Kaiser. Ich bin unten geblieben und hab mich im nahen Biergarten bewirten lassen. Mit 65 Jahren muss ich mir nach über 250 Klettertouren nichts mehr beweisen.
