The engine was sold to the National Coal Board and worked out of a colliery near Rhymney in South Wales before purchase for preservation in 1973. More exertion on my part this time but no photos!<br /> <br /> We arrived back on shed to find both pits occupied so were instructed to stable the Hall in road 3. I ran the irons through the fire and topped up the boiler and we were done. We were here for 25 minutes to let the diners enjoy their food and the sun setting behind us.<br /> <br /> With the fire, pressure and water in good shape this gave us plenty of time to drop down & take a few shots of the loco. I think it looks brilliant and has certainly appealed to the public - every train to Christmas was fully booked.
