He designed and engineered many more innovative glass buildings in the UK and France. He was a Director of the Midland Railway. He was Liberal Member of Parliament for Coventry from 1854 until his death in 1865. His bust is located south of the National Sports Centre in the middle of the park.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

The inscription reads:&lt;br /&gt;
LEST WE FORGET&lt;br /&gt;
TO THE MEMORY OF THE &lt;br /&gt;
MEMBERS OF THE CORPS OF&lt;br /&gt;
ROYAL CANADIAN ENGINEERS&lt;br /&gt;
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES&lt;br /&gt;
IN THE RAID ON DIEPPE&lt;br /&gt;
FRANCE - 19TH AUGUST 1942&lt;br /&gt;
NEWHAVEN WAS AN&lt;br /&gt;
EMBARKATION POINT&lt;br /&gt;
and then goes on to list those who died. I did photograph these, but as can be seen above, the mottled stone and gilded lettering together do not make for easy reading. If anyone wants to see the lower area I shall be pleased to either upload it or send jpegs to them.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
