North Coast from Torr Head

This is the view of the Antrim coast from Torr Head. We visited there and walked to the headland from the nearby car park. The view is to the southeast towards the fabled glens of Antrim, Glendun between the two headlands in the photo. We often visited Torr Head with family or visitors when we lived in Northern Ireland, so the place holds many memories for us.

On the north coast of Northern Ireland, in County Antrim between Carnlough and Waterfoot, lies the hidden village of Galboly, an abandoned village in the hills above the sea. According to available information, the village never had more than sixty residents, but declined until the only resident was a Cistercian monk named Veder O'Kane who died in 1973. The village is now a collection of ruined houses and outbuildings and is reached by a walk up a rough track. It is no longer as "hidden" as it once was since being used in filming "Game of Thrones." This photo is of one of the ruined houses and of the peaks beyond.
