beautiful blind arcades of c.1240 line both sides of the chancel, the church provided endowments for several prebends for secular canons in the collegiate church of st.martin le grand in the city of london, which eventually became a source of royal sinecures and a way of paying royal civil servants. these may have provided nominal seating for them, or more likely their temporary vicars.

late c16 crest resting on a c13 corbel in the chancel. there is no matching corbel on the other wall, or you'd think it was for a lenten veil.

the porch is early c16, the aisle c.1300. the churchyard has been criminally cleared of many of its gravestones, which lie piled in a great heap to the south. I really thought that such philistine acts were things of the past.

I'd given up hope of finding this church open after maybe 4 or 5 attempts, so was very glad when persistance finally paid off. nave arcade of c.1300, chancel with wall arcades of c.1240
