capability brown built this garden building in 1761, though much of its delight is down to nash who added the front arches, vault, bath, and battlements around 1802. he was probably responsible for the cast iron windows, though the window tracery and niches seem to be brown's work

nash added the bath, vault and arches during his period working on the main house 1796-1813, probably around 1802. the ogee side arches are part of brown's original work of 1761

chancel memorial to lancelot "capability" brown and family, designed by him in a gothick style, and here rather than at kirkharle in northumberland where he was born in 1716 as he had purchased the small estate and become squire in 1767. he started as a gardener's boy and changed the face of england.
