The areas bare of vegetation on these scree slopes are still actively moving. The more stable areas have trees growing on them.
The ground just in front of me looks quite dry - it isn't !

This grassed area - actually a wider extent to both left & right - was the area used for the 1991 Royal Garden Party, held in July. [Stand Down was in September 1991, although some ROC personnel were retained until 1995].

The area to the left had a table / parasol / gazebo for each Group, arranged in two "semi-circles" - the inner line - including 23 Group - received visits from HMQueen while the outer set met Prince Philip. We had to stay in our "Group area" until the Royal Party had left the next group along, but were not to pass the group they were with ...

To the right were the catering facilities, a large pavilion with cucumber sandwiches, strawberries & cream, plus liquid - non-alcoholic - refreshments for the "other ranks" --- a selected number of the more senior officers were invited to the Officers' Mess to take Tea with the Royal Party.

Probably an ash tree in the middle of the central green space in the touring caravan park.
Hope it doesn't have the throwing branches habit.

It has a chain hung tyre swing and a notice saying, basically, use at your own risk ...

Animals About Town have brought a couple of sheep, two goats [neutered males], some chickens, a rabbit and a few guineapigs.

The two goats were apparently rescued via a vet --- and were quite happy to nibble hay & grass. Beautiful long, soft coats and no billy reek.

A quite short walk along there to the Rendezvous Cafe, suppliers of Hot & Cold Drinks, snacks / cakes and ice cream. Also dog-friendly ...

This area is rented out as "rough grazing" but isn't occupied as often as it used to be, so the grass is getting quite long.

Finally, we have the first few of our "local" lambs in the nearby fields.
That is a pair of fraternal twins soaking up the sunshine.
Just as I clicked the shutter "mom" told them it was lunchtime, so they both trotted over for some "milk on tap" ... very cute !

Just in the patch you can see, there are at least 100 molehills, which have popped up in the last couple of weeks.

I'll need to spread those out a bit ... maybe fill in some of the ruts caused by idiots ignoring the "soft verge" signs ...
