the parish was founded in 1872, but used a large tin tabernacle for many years, and brooks probably built most of the church circa 1880 -89, and his assistant adkins added furnishings such as screens and pulpit between 1895-1911, some to brooks' designs

brooks built the church between 1872-89, adkins added screens 1895-1911. the pulpit was made in 1902 to brooks design, the canopy of 1912 is by adkins, who was also responsible for the ambones and pascal candlestick

longinus from reredos of crucifixion designed by brooks and carved by earp. the church was built by james brooks in 1867-9 for the haggerston church scheme and is the only one of several by brooks in its original state, right down to its fixtures and fittings
