Lansing's Peter Mooney's the shortstop, whose throw didn't get the batter-runner (Oliver Tavarez). The (forced-out) runner in the photo is QC's Ronny Gil; Jonathan Jones is in right field.

Really pleased with my ballpark photos on Thursday, but they took hours (literally) to upload over our "high-speed" internet connection. Broadstripe should be ashamed for taking my money.

Great ballgame last night at Cooley Stadium. Lansing won 4-3, coming from behind and winning on a bases-loaded, ninth-inning error. Excellent weather, too; it's about time.

Earlier in the game: Peoria's Matt Szczur gets back to first on a pickoff attempt. A few seconds later he'd make the second out in a 9-3 (RF-1B) double play. Balbino Fuenmayor's Lansing's first baseman; Michael Crouse in right.

Pitcher Zach Piccola of the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Zach was signing autographs, bantering with the crowd, and watching Duane Below, the starting pitcher, warm up pretty much simultaneously. Looked to be enjoying himself. He'd eventually relieve Below in mid-game.

That's Whitecaps pitching coach Ray Burris behind him.

Finally, a ball game.

Michigan State ballplayer Adam Slusher, wearing a retro M.A.C. uniform (that being Michigan Agricultural College, MSU's ancestral school.) I suspect that makes him an Aggie, since the Spartan nickname dates from when the school was MSC (Michigan State College, of course).

State rallied in the ninth to tighten the game to 4-3. Lansing's Lugnuts held on to win the exhibition....

Tom Brookens, infielder for the 1984 World Champion Detroit Tigers, is now managing the West Michigan Whitecaps. The 'Caps played their home opener last night, losing to Lansing. It was cold.

Southwest Michigan's Alex Jamieson swings and misses at a pitch by Lansing's Jordan Timm to end the game, the season, and the Midwest League's Battle Creek franchise. The franchise will move to Midland over the winter, where I wish them all sorts of luck.

I'll transfer my loyalties to Lansing's Lugnuts, I imagine, and likely I'll request the seat I took this photo from. But it won't be the same.

This photo was in my desktop background rotation for years. It doesn't work so well on the hi-res monitors I use these days.

Joe Hamilton of the Michigan Battle Cats, at bat at Lansing's Oldsmobile Park in August of 1996. The catcher's Matt Treanor, then of the Lansing Lugnuts but more recently a Florida Marlin. My favorite 'Cat; one of my favorite Luggies.

Photo taken with my Chinon Genesis III. Not sure how I processed this, nor what tool I used. But I should rescan the pic & figure it out.
