Information plaque / harbour map on the Old New Quay at Whitehaven.
This quay pokes out into the outer harbour, and until the removal of the old "sea scouts" [?] building in 2018 was largely in-accessible to the general public.

This is an attempt to show the vast size of the Bailey Yards in North Platte, Nebraska, the largest railway yards in the world. I took a number of photos from the viewing tower that is located at the center bottom of this map. The PiP point to some of the views taken.

The statistics are awesome:

covers 2,850 acres

reaching a total length of eight miles

Put end-to-end, Bailey Yard’s trackage totals 315 miles

Every 24 hours, Bailey Yard handles 10,000 railroad cars.

Of those, 3,000 are sorted daily in the yard

Two hump yards allow four cars a minute to roll gently into any of 114 “bowl” tracks where they become part of trains headed for dozens of destinations.

Together, these two yards have 17 receiving and 16 departure tracks.

The fueling and service center processes more than 9,000 locomotives each month

On-site Car Repair This facility annually replaces 10,000 pairs of wheels

Orientation leaflet and site map, with a suggested route around the exhibition spaces.

The volunteers at EATM are gradually developing the facilities in the extension to the museum site.
For example, the narrow-gauge railway has extra track, a station, signal-box and the engine shed - with some extra work before these are all fully operational.

Needed to find out where to report what we are pretty 100% sure is a red squirrel.
Research resulted in this map popping up, from which this screenshot was purloined.
Pleased to see that there are a lot of groups ...

Map showing the River Thurne catchment, highlighting the various - I make the count as 15 - drainage pumps, including the one Horsey, which is currently being replaced / upgraded.

The Broads drainage project is partially to replace life-expired equipment before failures but also to help cope with the affects of climate change.

BBC map : Smuggling cheap Belarusian ciggies --- floated over by balloon into Lithuania, with the side-effect of appearing to be "aimed" at disrupting operations in Vilnius airport ... they could use several other places that would be less likely to affect Vilnius airport.

This scenario happens quite often, so is it purely smugglers - or hybrid warfare ?

ISW map regarding The Kremlin's misleading claims of gains in territory, whether that's by area or the number of settlements. Situation as at 19th December 2025.
The claim made was that ruzzian troops had captured over 300 Ukrainian settlements in 2025.
According to the ISW analysis, they had seized only 196, most [142] of which were under 1km2 in area.
